DA9
DA9 is now available in a new improved version: Better soundstage and dynamic, more details, softer, deeper bass and more. The new version is better and has a lower price than the old fifo version which was tested on TNT Audio in 2005-06.
Also a level control, with allows DA9 to be wired up direct to a power amp or active speakers, is available as option.
A CD-system made up of a source and a DAC is generally better than just a CD-player. Only a few CD-players are suitable due to the very high demands on the circuit generating the digital S/PDIF signal and on the digital output buffer. Uppgrading the sound of a DVD-player using a DAC gives exceptional results because DVD-players have high-quality driving mechanisms but not so good internal DACs.
You should consider a DAC if you want better two-channel sound from your DVD-player or want a high-end CD system consisting a separate source and DAC parts.
DA9
DA9 is a 24-bit D/A converter developed for the listener who
values an accurate and neutral reproduction of music. DA9 has
a minimised feature set, instead focusing on sound quality.
The input uses a transformer which means that high frequency
distortions can not enter the input receiver. This results
in a more stable sound. The analog component of the digital
section uses a dedicated power supply to produce a the most
pleasant and natural sound as possible.
The transfer from the digital section to the analog is done
using a balanced connection. This results in better supression
of distortions and hence a more articulated and softer sound.
The analog amplifier combines raw power with delicacy without
sacrifying the musical qualities. DA9 can easily handle long
cables and problematic inputs at the receiver. DA9 uses a multi
step AC filter. On the secondary side of the power supply there
are several electronic filters for maximum distortion suppression
and activ regulators. The analog section and the digital section
naturally each have their own independent power supply.
Inputs and outputs
DA9 is available with RCA or XLR input, and with RCA and Toslink input.
At the output there are XLR contacts and RCA contact.
Power is connected through an external power cable.
Exterior
DA9 comes in black or silver exterior. Height is 5cm and 25cm.
Level control
Equipped with level control DA9 can be wired up direct to a power amplifier or active speakers. Output level is of course, lower than a preamplifier, but in most cases the output level is enough to normal listening.
